El Cardenal's founder Don Jesus Briz Infante believed that the principles with which he came into the restaurant business would be the same that would keep him there. Now over 50 years later this has been proved right. He believed that the best food could only be made with the best ingredients, seasoning was one of the most essential parts of the meal, hygiene was to be followed to the letter, the service had to be excellent and finally the prices had to be reasonable.
Today El Cardenal is a big part of Mexico's historic district and boasts a beautiful space with an artistic interior. The restaurant serves traditional Mexican dishes, using local ingredients and passed down recipes, their flavours truly capture the taste of Mexico.
Their breakfast menu is especially popular, for instance their michoacan style enchiladas (which are rolled tortillas stuffed with chicken) goes down a treat.
