The Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso is one of the most important colonial buildings of the historic center of Mexico City
Thanks to the economic boom of the viceroyalty and the financial strength of the Society of Jesus, the house was rebuilt in the first four decades of the eighteenth century, giving way to the property we know today and is one of the most outstanding baroque examples of civil architecture in Mexico City.
The Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso is one of the most important colonial buildings of the historic center of Mexico City. It is located on Justo Sierra Street, between Republic of Argentina and El Carmen.
In 1991, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the National Council for Culture and the Arts and the Federal District have joined forces and resources to fully restore this important building, in order to receive the great exhibition Mexico: Splendors of 30 centuries and transform it into a venue for temporary exhibitions of relevance.
