In the early nineties, organized a group of photographers struggled to create a space that fostered the meeting, discussion and exhibition of artistic expression. Then the National Council for Culture and the Arts welcomed this idea and was given the task of creating the Centro de la Imagen, as an urgent response to the needs of dissemination, research and promotion of photography, a discipline to which end eighties he had not given in our country the recognition and support they deserve.
With this, a policy was promoted in the field of photography, which recognized the same field as a link between different fields of knowledge, expression and human communication, while stimulating reflection on the image as a process, whose transformations required a permanent historical review that contemplated its beginnings, deepen its present and explore the future.
