Directions to Fundacion María y Héctor García
The María and Héctor García Foundation, located in a residential neighborhood of Mexico City, opened its doors in 2008. It has worked around two main courses of action: researching and managing the documental and photographic archive, and presenting great exhibitions of artists invited to its Galery
Héctor and María García were prominent photographers (Héctor also worked as journalist) in Mexico. They put together a huge collection of photos that pictured many events and periods of the city's life in the 20th Century. Some of them are displayed in the permanent exhibition along with objects and documents of the same epoch. Its main goal is to make people see the recent history of Mexico City and rethink the concept of modernity and urbanism of this metropolis.
