Directions to Plaza Santo Domingo
Located in the heart of the city, just a couple of blocks away from Zocalo square, Plaza Santo Domingo will surprise you for its beauty and the sumptuous colonial buildings surrounding it, such as the former Palace of Inquisition and the Customs building, as well as the spectacular Catholic Temple which gives this plaza its name.
The church and convent of Santo Domingo have been in this place since the 16th century. It was one of the most important Catholic venues as it housed the Dominican order, one of the three most influential ones during the period of evangelization in Mexico. There are arcades, beautiful fountains and sculptures of relevant political actors for Mexico's history, plus a bunch of places where you'll be able to find accommodation and excellent local food.
